Wildcats Roll in First Full Scrimmage

Davidson, NC – The Davidson College Men’s Lacrosse team took to the field on Saturday to face Montreat College for the first full scrimmage of the fall season after spending weeks in practice and situational scrimmages. The ‘Cats dominated the game from the opening faceoff and rolled their new divisional opponent 18-4.

Freshman Attackman, Maxx Evans, lead the Wildcats in scoring with an remarkable 8 goals scored in his first full college game situation. Junior co-captain, Harrison Manning, scored 3 goals on the day and fellow co-captain, Charlie Freeburg, added 3 goals and 2 assists. In total, ten Davidson players contributed to the offense with William Worrilow, Ed Henderson, Justin Garcia-Bunuel and Daniel McGinn all adding a goal apiece and Worrilow, Chris Hanrahan, Hunter Robinson and Leon DaSilva contributing one assist each.

The Davidson defense saw limited action with the control of play but held strong throughout the game only allowing 4 goals. Dana Harvey and Ryan Stilson lead the defense with 3 ground balls each and Goalie Ben Daniels finished with 4 saves.

The Wildcats will get more opportunities to play Montreat in the future. The small college in the mountains of North Carolina has joined the Northwest division of the SELC starting this season, guaranteeing that the two teams will see each other regularly in the future.

Davidson returns to action for another fall scrimmage at home on October 25th at 7 PM. The team will face UNC Charlotte on the Men’s Lacrosse field on the Davidson College campus. The game coincides with the school’s family weekend and the team anticipates a large crowd of family, friends and supporters to host the city rival.
